Selection of Grease Traps
The following procedure is recommended for sizing grease traps to suit requirements of specific fixtures.

Determine cubic content of fixture
(Length x Width x Depth)
1.2 x 0.6 x 0.3 = 0.216 m3
Determine actual drainage load
(The fixture is normally filled to ±75% of capacity)
1000 x 0.75 x 0.216 m3 = 162 lit
Select the drainage period - actual time required to completely drain the fixture
Recommended: 1 Min
Acceptable: 2 Min

1 Min = 60 sec
2 Min = 120 sec
Calculate Flow Rate 1 Min: 162/60 = 2.7 lit/sec
2 Min: 162/120 = 1.35 lit/sec
Select Grease Trap which corresponds to the calculated flow rate
Note: Select next larger size when flow rate falls between two sizes listed
